We Joined The Manaus Declaration on Human Rights in the Climate Emergency
On 20 August, we presented the Manaus Declaration on Human Rights and the Climate Emergency before the InterAmerican Court of Human Rights along with a coalition of more than 400 communities, Indigenous and Tribal Peoples organisations, and civil society representatives.
The statement provides recommendations to ensure that minimum standards on human rights in responding to the climate crisis are incorporated into the upcoming Advisory Opinion on Climate Emergency and Human Rights.
The document draws upon the insights of more than 150 participants who contributed during the public hearings on the process of the Advisory Opinion mentioned.
