Ensuring Justice in Transition: A Gender-Transformative Approach
This report, published jointly with the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), provides a global overview of just transition policies and examines what is needed to ensure they advance gender justice.
It proposes a gender-transformative approach and introduces analytical tools to evaluate and strengthen just transition initiatives. These tools serve as a guide to improve existing frameworks and ensure future policies deliver more socially just outcomes.
The report broadens the understanding of just transition, which can often reflect Global North perspectives, highlighting grounded experiences from the Global South, translating them into practical insights for policy and practice.
It complements the analysis to be presented in the upcoming report ‘No Just Transition without Gender Justice: Recommendations for International Partnerships’, produced jointly with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) and UNRISD, the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development.
